FOUNDING PARTNER

Brian Lewis

Brian Lewis is a passionate trial lawyer who believes above all else that people and companies must take responsibility for their actions. If they refuse, Brian fights hard to hold them accountable.

Ironically, Brian began his legal career working for an insurance company. He gained valuable experience in the mass tort context handling pharmaceutical and product liability cases, but he never felt proud about his work. During those two years, he did not have a positive impact on a real person, rather only companies trying to avoid responsibility for harming people. One day in the winter of 1998, Brian traveled to a small, working-class town to take the deposition of a man who was dying of exposure to asbestos. It was Brian’s job to ensure that that man, who was giving his testimony from a hospital bed in his living room, could not be certain which type of asbestos products he had been exposed to over his career as a pipefitter. Simply put, if Brian could help “confuse” the witness, he would help a company avoid paying millions of dollars. It made Brian sick. Half-way through the “deathbed deposition,” Brian walked out and immediately resigned.

It was at that moment that Brian dedicated himself to representing only plaintiffs – those who are injured due to someone else’s negligence. Since early in 1999, Brian has devoted one hundred percent of his time and energy to representing victims in medical malpractice, nursing home, wrongful death and all types of personal injury matters.

Brian earned his law degree from the University of Illinois College of Law in 1997. While there he was selected to the College’s International Moot Court Team that won awards at each competition it entered.

Brian attended the University of Michigan where he earned his bachelor of arts degree in 1994.

Brian speaks Spanish and believes this is an important part of his success. His ability to communicate with several different communities allows him to help a greater number of people in need.

Brian is an active member of the Lake County Bar Association. He has served on the Board of Directors since 2012. In 2018 he became the President of the LCBA and proudly served in that position until June 2019. Brian worked hard to lead the LCBA through challenging times and left the organization in the strongest economic position it had been in for many years. Brian is also an active member of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and the American Association for Justice.
